Pressed Earth Brick – Eltham Soil Type

AMCER
Pressed Earth Bricks are a blend of selected local gravel, sand, silt and clay held together by the colloidal attraction of the clay.
The clay binds these materials together and minimises water absorption.

Note 4 - Fire Resistance
No specific testing has been conducted on AMCER Pressed Earth Bricks. The National Building Technology Centre results concluded that a load bearing 250 mm Adobe block wall achieved a fire-resistance rating of 4 hours in terms of AS1530, Part4 – 1975. Based on the NBTC test results, the NBTC concluded that all forms of Earth-Wall construction could be assumed to have a minimum fire rating of 2 hours.

Note 5 - Acoustic Attenuation
No specific testing has been conducted on AMCER Pressed Earth Bricks. The National Building Technology Centre published limited test results indicating that 250 mm Adobe construction would achieve an airborne sound transmission rating of 50 dBA. The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology publication of 1992 results indicated a rating of 63 dBu

Note 6 - Thermal Transmission
No specific testing has been conducted on AMCER Pressed Earth Bricks. The National Building Technology Centre published limited test results indicating the Thermal Transmission of Earth Wall construction.
